“Everything happens for a reason…sometimes the reason is crystal clear and other times not so much…and in those times when it’s not so easy to understand the why, is when you hold your head high and have a little faith that everything, eventually will be ok.” – me
Life is a book with many chapter and all chapters must end for new ones to begin…
I have been a student of Jones Dance Ballroom Studios for 2 years and 9 months. I have had the honor and privilege of being trained by a professional, talented dancer and an incredible instructor, Waylon Jones. Unfortunately, with great sadness and a heavy heart, I am closing this chapter in my life as the New Year begins. This chapter, titled, Jones Dance, has been a magical journey that will forever remain very dear to me.
“The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called ‘truth’.” – Dan Rather
I love the above quote by Dan Rather, because it describes the kind of teacher that Waylon Jones is to me. I am so grateful for Waylon’s belief in my dancing, and everything he did for me so that I could become so much more than I ever imagined. He was not just my instructor, but also my dance mentor. A teacher like him is truly irreplaceable. I will always have many great memories, experiences and priceless knowledge to take with me to the next chapter in my ballroom dance journey. I wish him only the best on the next chapter in his life.
My last performance with Waylon Jones – September 23, 2012
As I struggle to write this blog post and accept the situation, I ask myself this important question, “Now what?”. I’m not sure what the future holds, but I do know this: there will be a next chapter in my ballroom dance journey simply because I have to dance. So keep calm and dance on! Happy New Year.
