No matter what kind of sport you’re in, or which talent you’re pursuing, there is always someone that you want to model after and strive to become as great or greater than. Everyone has an inspiration, an idol or a role model. In the Ballroom and Latin dancing world, my inspiration is the professional Latin dancer, Yulia Zagoruychenko.
I remember the first time I saw Yulia Zagoruychenko dance was in a youtube clip of the show dance, Hip Hip Chin Chin. She was dancing with her partner at the time, Max Kuzhevnikov, and I was totally blown away by her talent! Check out the Hip Hip Chin Chin youtube clip below:
When you watch Yulia Zagoruychenko dance, notice how her every movement is precise, sharp and yet, elegant and smooth. She’s got raw talent and natural rhythm. It’s like she was born to dance. Yulia has a way of captivating and mesmerizing her audience by her warm personality, her dancing ability, the way she connects with her dance partner (currently she’s dancing with Riccardo Cocchi) and the creative Latin choreography….. and I just couldn’t take my eyes off of her! Watching Yulia Zagoruychenko perform is very inspiring and motivating!
I’ve been told that I’m not a terrible dancer, but for me to be able to even somewhat resemble the talented Yulia Zagoruychenko, I need A LOT of work and a lot of private dance lessons! I would have to dance full time and 100% commit to Ballroom and Latin dancing, mentally, physically and emotionally :) I’d love to be able to dance full time one day, but for now, I have to take baby steps and do what I can with what I have. Of course, daydreaming about becoming as great of a dancer as Yulia Zagoruychenko keeps my hopes high. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be competing side by side with her at the Blackpool Dance Festival. You never know what the future holds, so keep on keeping on, right?
